About

A sprawling, Whitmanesque meditation on nature, gender, love, sex, and death, Black Scarlet Wounds is singer-songwriter Keith Caputo’s follow-up to Night Blooming Jasmine Will Never Smell The Same, a collection of poetry that Caputo co-authored in 2010 with erotic photographer and music industry veteran Michael Alago. Whereas the tragic elements of Night Blooming Jasmine were frequently offset by Alago’s manic, often scatological humor, Black Scarlet Wounds isn’t afraid to plumb the depths of Caputo’s dreamlike despair with nary a glimmer of light or hope to speak of. As the name of Caputo’s internationally renowned metal band Life of Agony indicates, pain is this artist’s canvas. And so it follows that Black Scarlet Wounds is a poetry of pain – a pain that runs the gamut from white-hot to blood-red to moody blue.
